3B-8 STEERING GEAR BOX AND LINKAGE

9) Dismantle nuts (5) and remove the power steering gear
box unit (6)
Installation
1) Install power steering gear box (6) fixing nuts (5) at the
specified torque.
Tightening torque for fixing nuts of the power steering
gear box:
7 ÷ 10 Kg-m (70 ÷ 100 Nm)
2) Install generator (see 6A-52).
3) Install power steering liquid tank (3).
4) Connect pressure hose (1) and return hose (2).
5) Connect drag rod to cam of the power steering box through its

joint, and tighten nut to the specified torque.
Tightening torque:
• Pressure inlet connector (1) to the power steering gear
box: 4 ÷ 5 Kg-m (40 ÷ 50 Nm)
• Oil return connector (2) to the tank: 3 ÷ 4 Kg-m (30 ÷ 40 Nm)
• Nuts fixing joints to cams: 4 Kg-m (40 Nm)
6) Install steering lower shaft and fix its nut to the specified
torque.
Tightening torque nut connecting shaft to the power
steering gear box axle:
2 ÷ 3Kg-m (20 ÷ 30Nm)
7) Install left front wheel, lower the vehicle and follow the
sequence show in the figure to tighten fixing nuts to the
specified torque.
Tightening torque for nuts fixing wheels:
11 ÷ 17 Kg-m (110 ÷ 170Nm)
8) Carry out the filling and purging of the servo steering hydraulic
circuit (see 0B-26 and 3B-12).
9) Check if the steering wheel positioning rightwards and
leftwards is balanced; if it is not, adjust it adequately and
relocate the steering wheel if necessary (see 3C-4 ).
