Image Quality Problems

When the image quality of the printed output is poor, identify the symptom in the following table to perform the
corresponding remedy.
If the image quality does not improve even after the remedy is performed, contact your local Xerox representative.
Symptom
Part of the image
Is the media damp?
is missing on the
printed output.
(smudged or
unclear)
Is the loaded media folded or
wrinkled?
Is part of the image outside of the
printable area?
The print heads may be clogged.
Is the message "Print head needs
to be replaced soon." displayed?
Dirt appears at
Is the paper path dirty?
regular intervals.
Internal components are soiled.
The printed sheet
Is the paper path dirty with ink?
has dirty at its
leading edge or
back side.
Check
If the media is damp, some parts of the original may not be
printed or may be unclear. Replace with media just unpacked.

Remove the defective media or replace with media just unpacked.

Recreate the original so that the image fit to the printable area.
Perform the print head cleaning two or three times
Refer
If this symptom occurs after you have run a continuous print job,
wait for 30 seconds or more before starting the next print job.
Whenever an interval of 30 seconds or more elapses, the machine
automatically performs the print head cleaning.
Operate the machine in the room temperature at 68ºF (20ºC) and
the humidity at 50%. This will stabilize the performance of the
print head.
Replace the print head.

If the symptom does not improve, contact your local Xerox
representative.

Use a lint-free cleaning cloth to wipe off ink adhering to the
paper path (upper and lower surfaces) in the print unit.
