The ACCESSORY MODE ON
message will appear on the
Driver Information Center
display.
If the gear selector is not in P
(Park) on vehicles equipped
with an automatic transmis-
sion, the vehicle will go into
accessory mode, the engine
will turn off and the Driver
Information Center will display
SHIFT TO PARK.
In this mode, you can operate
your electrical accessories while
the engine is off.
Use this mode if you must have
your vehicle in motion while
the engine is off (for example,
if your vehicle is being pushed
or towed).
After being in accessory mode
for about 10 minutes, the vehi-
cle will automatically activate
retained accessory power or
turn the engine off, depending
on whether the doors are open
or closed.
To turn this mode off without
starting the engine, press the
keyless ignition off/accessory
button again. The ignition will
turn off and the retained acces-
sory power feature will turn on.
Note:
With a manual transmission,
the steering column will lock
when the ignition is in the Off
mode.
Section 3
