3. When the engine is cold, move the choke lever to the
Choke position (Figure 20).
Note: Do not use the choke when the engine is warm.

4. Hold the blade-control bar against the handle and pull
the recoil starter (Figure 21).
Note: Pull the recoil start handle lightly until you feel
resistance, then pull it briskly.
Note: If the choke is engaged, it will automatically turn
off about 3 seconds after you hold the blade-control
bar against the handle.

5. If the machine does not start after 1 or 2 pulls, repeat
steps 3 and 4.
Note: If the machine still does not start, contact an
Authorized Service Dealer.
Stopping the Engine
Service Interval: Before each use or daily
To stop the engine, release the blade-control bar (Figure 22).
Important: When you release the blade-control bar,
both the engine and blade should stop within 3 seconds.
If they do not stop properly, stop using your machine
immediately and contact an Authorized Service Dealer.
