the two front upper frame rails. To access the power
steering o i l cooler the air cleaner w i l l need to be
removed from the vehicle.
REMOVE
(1) Remove the air as an assembly from the vehi-
cle.
(2) Remove the hose clamps (Fig. 12) from
the
power steering f l u i d hoses. D r a i n

cooler.

(3) Remove the 2 bolts (Fig. 12) attaching the
power steering fluid cooler to the cross-car beam (Fig.
12).
INSTALL
(1) I n s t a l l the power steering fluid cooler on the
cross-car beam as shown i n (Fig. 12).
(2) I n s t a l l the 2 bolts (Fig. 12) attaching the power
steering fluid cooler to the bumper reinforcement.
Tighten the attaching bolt to a torque of 23 N - m (200
i n . lbs.)
(3) I n s t a l l power steering fluid hoses on the power
steering fluid cooler. I n s t a l l the hose clamps on the
power steering fluid hoses. B e s u r e hose c l a m p s
are i n s t a l l e d on hose past the upset b e a d on the
p o w e r s t e e r i n g oil cooler.
(4) Install the air cleaner.
(5) Start the engine and let r u n for a few seconds.
Then t u r n the engine off.
(6) A d d fluid i f necessary. Repeat the above proce-
dure u n t i l the fluid level remains constant after r u n -
n i n g the engine.
(7) Start the engine. Slowly
t u r n the
steering
wheel r i g h t and left, lightly contacting the wheel
stops.
(8) A d d power steering fluid i f necessary.
(9) Stop the engine. Check the fluid level and r e f i l l
as required.
(10) I f the fluid is extremely foamy, allow the vehi-
cle to stand a few minutes and repeat the above pro-
cedure.

p o r t s . T h i s will p r e v e n t t h e entry of foreign material
into t h e c o m p o n e n t s d u r i n g s e r v i c i n g .
(1) Remove battery (-) negative cable from the bat-
tery and isolate cable.
(2) Remove the 2 fasteners t h a t mount the air
cleaner housing to the radiator support (Fig. 13).
Remove the fastener m o u n t i n g the air cleaner hous-
ing to the cross car beam (Fig. 13). Remove the w i r -
ing
harness
connector
from
the
charge
air
temperature sensor located i n the air cleaner hous-
ing. Remove the crank case vent hose from the air
cleaner housing and the hose clamps from the air
cleaner hoses at the t h r o t t l e bodies (Fig. 13). Remove
the complete air cleaner assembly from the vehicle.
