(Fig. 57). Also inspect dust boots on a l l caliper pis-
tons for any cuts, tears or heat cracks and brake
shoe guides for excess wear or damage.
(8) I f any of these conditions exist the caliper
assembly should be removed from the vehicle, disas-
sembled, cleaned, inspected and have new piston
seals and dust boots installed on a l l pistons. Refer to
Disc Brake Caliper i n the Disassembly A n d Assembly
SR
section of the service manual for the required proce-
dure.

Inspection
(9) I f no brake fluid leak is evident and caliper pis-
ton dust boots show no signs of damage, new brake
shoe assemblies can be installed i n the caliper.

Before new brake shoes can be installed i n the cal-
iper, the caliper pistons must be pushed back into the
bores of the caliper.
Push the pistons back into the bores of the caliper
using the
following
procedure.

p i s t o n s , d u s t b o o t s o r b r a k i n g d i s c .

back into the caliper(Fig. 58). Place a t r i m stick at
the center groove of the inboard brake shoe and the
outer edge of the rotor(Fig. 58). Using the t r i m stick,
apply
pressure
against
the
inboard brake
shoe
