where not prohibited by local codes.

    The appliance and its individual shutoff valve must be disconnected from the gas supply piping system during any pressure testing of that system at test pressures in excess of 1/2 psig (3.5 kPa). The appliance must be isolated from the gas supply piping system by closing its individual manual shutoff valve during any pressure testing of the gas supply piping system at test pressures equal to or less than 1/2 psig (3.5 kPa).

    7.0 OPERATION WARNING When lit for the first time, the appliance will emit a slight odour for a few hours. This is a normal temporary condition caused by the curing of the logs and the “burn-in” of internal paints and lubricants used in the manufacturing process and will not occur again. After extended periods of non-operation such as following a vacation or a warm weather season, the appliance may emit a slight odour for a few hours.
