Hydraulic Pump

In most cases, problems with the drive
system are not due to a defective pump but to
slipping drive belts, partially engaged bypass
valves, loose or damaged control linkages,
etc. Be sure to check all of these before
assuming a pump is faulty.The
troubleshooting checklist below is designed to
help determine the cause of problems.

Problem
Vehicle does not drive/track straight.
Unit is noisy.
Unit has no/low power.

Cause
Vehicle tires improperly inflated.
Pump linkage bent, loose or
incorrectly adjusted.
Bypass loose.
Inlet leak.
Engine RPM high.
Oil level low or oil contaminated.
Excessive loading (long grass).
Air trapped in the hydraulic system.
Bypass loose.
Inlet leak.
Clogged/damaged hydraulic filter.
Engine RPM low.
Pump linkage bent, loose or
incorrectly adjusted linkage system.
Drive belt slipping or pulley
damaged.
Oil level low or oil contaminated.
Excessive loading (long grass).
Air trapped in the hydraulic system.
WARNING!
Do not attempt any servicing or
adjustments with the engine
running. Take great care when
inspecting drive belts, pulleys and
motion control lever linkages!
Corrective action
Adjust to proper pressure.
Repair, adjust or replace the
linkages on both sides.
Tighten the bypass.
Check all connections and
hoses for leaks.
Adjust the speed regulator.
Fill to proper level or change oil.
Raise the cutting height, drive
more slowly.
Aerate the system.
Tighten bypass.
Check all connections and
hoses for leaks.
Replace filter.
Adjust the speed regulator.
Repair or adjust the linkages
on both sides.
Repair/clean or replace drive belt.
Fill to proper level or change oil.
Raise the cutting height, drive more
slowly.
Aerate the system.
