Before You Start Playing

Connecting the power cord

1.
First, make sure that the [POWER] switch at the panel's
left side is OFF (not pushed in).

Connect the supplied power cord to the AC Inlet
connector, then plug the other end into an AC outlet.

Only use the power cord supplied with this instrument.
Whenever you do not intend to use the instrument for
extended periods of time, pull out the power cord from
the AC outlet.

Plug in upward

Turning the power on and off

Once the connections have been completed (p. 20),
turn on power your various devices in the order
specified. By turning on devices in the wrong order,
you risk causing malfunction and/or damage to
speakers and other devices.

Turning on the power

Make sure of the following before the power is turned on.
• Is the power cord correctly connected to the AC inlet?
• Is the power cord correctly connected to the AC outlet?

Press the [POWER] switch to turn on the power.
* You may still hear some sound when the power is switched on, but
this is normal, and does not indicate a malfunction.

The main screen will appear in the display.

This unit is equipped with a protection circuit. A brief
interval (a few seconds) after power up is required
before the unit will operate normally.
Even though the power has been turned on, playing
the keyboard will not produce sound until you've
selected a sound (stop).

Adjust the volume to an appropriate level by moving the
[Master Volume] knob.
Adjust the volume while you play the keyboard to produce sound.
Turning the knob toward the right will increase the volume, and
turning it toward the left will decrease the volume.
Advance the expression pedal to the maximum
volume.

Turning off the power

Press the [POWER] switch to turn off the power.
• You may still hear some sound when the power is switched off, but
this is normal, and does not indicate a malfunction.

• If you need to turn off the power completely, first turn off the
POWER switch, then unplug the power cord from the power outlet.
Refer to "Power Supply" (p. 7).
