The FireWire™ ports let you add MX500's reverbs and effects directly to the audio tracks
in your computer's recording software. These ports are also used to connect the MX500
to your computer for use with the MX-Edit editor/librarian software (see page 43 for
more info). Connect one end of a FireWire cable to the MX500's FireWire port and the
other end to an available FireWire port on your computer.

If your digital audio system is not FireWire equipped, the MX500 can still be integrated
for streaming digital audio using the S/PDIF digital inputs and outputs. This setup
requires that you use a mixer or audio I/O device with S/PDIF In/Out connections. Set
the MX500's Input Source and Clock Source to Digital in the System menu (described
on pages 33-38) when using this setup.
