If you subscribe to high-speed Internet service (digital subscriber line
- DSL) through your telephone line, you must install a DSL filter between
the telephone line cord and the telephone wall jack (see Telephone
installation on page 5). The filter prevents noise and caller ID problems
caused by DSL interference. Please contact your DSL service provider for
more information about DSL filters.
The telephone does not receive caller ID or the telephone does not
display caller ID during call waiting.
Make sure you subscribe to caller ID with call waiting features provided by
the telephone service provider.
The caller might not be calling from an area that supports caller ID.
Both you and the caller's telephone service providers must use equipment
compatible with caller ID service.

The answering system does not answer after the correct number of
rings.
Make sure the answering system is on (see To turn on the answering
system on page 43). When the answering system is on, the
ON/OFF light should be lit.
If you choose tS 2-4 (or tS 4-6) in # OF RINGS, the answering system
picks up incoming calls after two (four, if you select tS 4-6) rings if there
are any new messages. When there are no new messages, the answering
system picks up incoming calls after four (six, if you select tS 4-6) rings
(see Feature summary on page 13).
If the memory is full or if the answering system is off, the system answers
after ten rings.
In some cases, the answering system may be affected by the ringing
system used by the telephone service provider.
