Each ADTRAN FNC will accept a separately protected 240 VAC single phase, 60 Hz circuit. Load sizes
(breakers) vary from 15 amps to 100 amps. For detailed installation and wiring instructions of the AC
power to the AC load center, refer to Marconi document 640-205-001, Section 5, Cable Splicing, Termina-
tion, and Configuration.
Before installing AC power, ensure that the AC ground system is installed. The ground system must be in
compliance with local practices and building codes. For detailed installation and wiring instructions of the
AC ground system, refer to Marconi document 640-205-001, Section 4, AC Power.
The included FNC AC load center eliminates the need for an external power pedestal.

Turnup and Test Rectifier

The Valere power system is the primary power source for all cabinet DC electrical loads. The power
supply chassis has been factory installed and wired including the controller module, and is ready for
customer supplied rectifiers. This is a modular power system requiring three 20-amp load share rectifier
modules and provides redundant capability. The system can operate with one failed or removed rectifier.
Rectifier modules can be hot swapped. Following customer installation of the rectifiers, conduct the
following turnup test. Refer to Valere Compact DC Power System document, Version 3.20, Section 5, Test
and Turn-Up, for specific information.
After all electrical connections are made, replace protective covers and
shields that were removed for wiring installation.
1. Check all DC breakers OFF before applying AC power to the Valere power system. FNC DC circuit
breakers are located in the Valere DC distribution module.
2. Provide office AC power to the FNC.
3. Switch the main circuit breaker in the AC panel to the ON position.
4. Switch the breakers that control power to the rectifier to the ON position.
5. Verify bus voltage on the shelf (–54 VDC) by probing the output load terminals.

Valere Power System w/Modem Features

Following successful power turnup of the Valere power supply, the unit is ready for operational provisio n -
ing and setup. Refer to Valere document Application Bulletin No. 201.
