FNC SYSTEM

The ADTRAN FNC System uses the Total Access 3000 as the backbone for the local loop delivery
platform. In addition to this, a number of additional components have been integrated to provide a turnkey
solution. Detailed documentation for each of these components can be found on the enclosed CD.

Total Access 3000 Arrangement

The ADTRAN Total Access FNC-Sport consists of a Marconi MESA Sport NT on Riser cabinet that
houses three Total Access 3000 chassis designated A, B, and C.
The Host Total Access 3000, Shelf A, is fed with an OC-3. Client shelves B and C are individually
subtended over BNC coax via STS-1 from Host A. Each Total Access 3000 multiplexes 28 T1 services
(HDSL, HDSL2, HDSL4, or legacy T1) for a total of 84 circuits. The Client shelves payload to the Host is
STS-1. The Host multiplexes the STS-1 payloads into an OC-3 payload.
The Total Access 3000 units A, B, and C feed into the protector panel, which in turn feeds the cross
connect panel. The management DS1 circuit in a customer designated slot in shelf A is used for provision-
ing and maintenance information. See
In loop 1 and loop 2 of Figure 4, Pair 1 is transmit and Pair 2 is receive.
