WIRING CONNECTIONS

The ADTRAN FNC has its own AC power load center. The load center is supplied with commercial
power. All AC equipment from the service drop to the pad is provided locally by the customer. This
precludes the requirement for a separate power pedestal. Refer to Marconi document 640-205-001,
Section 4, AC Power, and

Cable Splicing, Termination, and Configuration

Wiring consists of factory installed wiring and wiring installed after the FNC is mounted. The procedures
in this document for bringing in power and data into the cabinet are supplemental to Marconi document
640-205-001, which provides detailed information and corresponding illustrations.

Power and Ground Cables

Refer to Marconi document 640-205-001, Section 4, AC Power, for detailed instructions for bringing AC
power and ground into the cabinet.

Installing Data Cables

This procedure assumes that required panels and covers are removed to facilitate the installation of data
wiring from local sources. Refer to Marconi document 640-205-001, Section 5, Cable Splicing, Termina-
tion, Configuration, for details.
Cables are installed into the splice chamber. The maximum outside plant
cable outer diameter is 3 inches.
Tapered plastic nozzles support the cables and provide a moisture, gas, and vermin seal between the
incoming conduit and the cabinet interior. The small end of the plastic nozzle is customer trimmed to fit
the incoming cable dimension then sealed with compound, tape, and hose clamps. The large end of the
nozzle fits on to the bottom cone shaped metal cable sleeve and is also secured with a hose clamp.
The following procedure can be used in place of the procedure in Marconi document 640-205-001, Section
5, Cable Splicing, Termination, Configuration. The procedure assumes that incoming cable stubs are
present at the top of the conduit inside the cabinet. If local conditions are different, revise the procedure to
fit the condition.
All grounds must terminate at a known ground source. Ensure metal-to-
metal contact on all ground connections, do not group or stack connec-
tions. Verify ground circuit continuity.
1. Gain access to the AC distribution/splice end chamber and the conduit chamber.
