1 ([_[_31).Press the shutter-release button halfway
• When you pressthe shutter releasebutton halfway, the
camera setsfocus and exposure (shutter speed and
aperture value),Focus and exposure remain locked
while the shutter releasebutton is pressed halfway.
• When the subject is in focus, the focus area in the center of Focus area
the frame glows green. See"AF Area" (_67) for more
information.
• When digital zoom is used, the focus area is not displayed
and the camera focuses on the subject at the center of the
frame, Once focus is acquired, the focus indicator (_8)
glows green.
• If the focus area or the focus indicator flashes red when the
shutter release button is pressed halfway, the camera is
unable to focus, Modify the composition and pressthe
shutter release button halfway again,

2 Press the shutter-release button the rest of
the way down ([_[_31).
• The shutter is released and the image is saved to the
memory card or internal memory.
TO apply an effect to the captured image,
press the _) button.
• The screen for selecting an effect is displayed, See"Using
Quick Effects" (_39) for more information,
• When you press the MENU button or when no operations
are performed for about five seconds, the monitor display
returns to the shooting screen,
• To not display the screen shown on the right, set Quick
effects to Off (_62).
