The MINOLTAFAX3800 uses a standard RS-232C port to communicate with the
PC. Follow the instructions in "Attaching the Peripheral Cables" on page A-8 to
connect the cable if you have not already connected it.
Please Note: CLASS 1 PC Faxing is optional..
There are a number of settings that affect the modem. This table provides a list of
common settings and the preferred MINOLTAFAX2800 and
MINOLTAFAX3800 settings.
Generic Class 1 or Class 1
Xon/Xoff
Use the type that matches your telephone service. This selection
determines whether the dial command is ATDT for tone or
ATDP for pulse.
OFF
OFF. Your unit detects a busy signal and provides the correct
response. If the remote unit does not answer, the fax unit
responds "No carrier" on the computer, which can then
schedule a re-dial.

Note these considerations when using Class 1 mode:
•
When your unit communicates with the computer, "CLASS 1 MODE"
appears on the LCD.
•
No other fax activities can be performed while the MFD communicates
with the PC.
•
During a fax operation initiated by your unit, a fax request initiated by
the PC is not processed.
•
The maximum fax transmission speed is 14,400 bps in Class 1 mode.
