Zipper Sewing (Continued)
• TO sew:
(D Zipper teeth
(_) Zipper tape
(_) Wrong side (Bottom side) of fabric
[] Fold back the left seam allowance, Turn under the right
seam allowance to form a 0.2 to 0.3 cm (1/8") fold
Place the zipper teethQnext to this fold and pin in place..
[] To sew the left side of the zipper, set the zipper foot on
the left side of the needle° Lower the zipper foot on the
top side at the bottom of the zipper so that the needle
pierces the fabric next to the fold and the zipper tape (_).
Sew through all layers next to the fold Stop just before
the zipper foot reaches the slider on the zipper tape
about 5 cm (2") from the top of the zipper.. Lower the
needle slightly into the fabric, raise the foot and remove
the basting stitches along the zipper opening_
[] Open the zipper to move the sliderObehind the zipper
foot,
Lower the foot and stitch the remainder of the seam,
making sure the fold is even
(_ Slider
(_ Right side (Top side) of fabric
[] Close the zipper and spread the fabric flat with the right
side (top side) of fabric (_)facing up..
[] Set the zipper foot on the right side of the needle° Guide
the edge of the foot along the zipper teeth(_)and stitch
through the garment and zipper tape.
[] Stop at about 5 cm (2") from the top of the zipper, Lower
the needle slightly into the fabric, raise the foot.
Open the zipper to move the slider(_)behind the zipper
foot.
Lower the foot and stitch the remainder of the seam,
making sure the fold is even.
