Removing Dried Ink from the Nozzle of the Ink Cartridge

If the Ink Cartridge is exposed to air for an extended period of time, a layer of dried ink will form as crust on
the nozzle of the Ink Cartridge. If this occurs, follow the steps below to remove the dried ink from the nozzle
of the Ink Cartridge.

Cleaning the Ink Spillage Recess

To prevent spillage, always clean the Ink Spillage Recess of excess ink before moving the apparatus.
To clean the Ink Spillage Recess
(See note1)
1. It is recommended to make a copy on the apparatus at least once a week to prevent ink from
NOTE
drying on the nozzle of the Ink Cartridge.
1. Hold the Ink Cartridge over a waste bag so that the nozzle

of the Ink Cartridge is pointed toward the waste bag.
Rigid Paper
2. Gently scrape the dried ink with the edge of a business
card or other rigid paper stock so that the dried ink falls into
the waste bag.
DO NOT use a swab to remove dried ink from the Ink
Cartridge.
1. Open the Panel Cover.
Ink Spillage Recess
2. Open the Cartridge Cover.
3. Remove the Ink Cartridge.
4. Inspect the Ink Spillage Recess for excess ink. If
necessary, clean up the excess ink with a swab or a paper
towel.
