A LocalTalk interface is a device that uses an AppleTalk cable
to connect a Macintosh computer with the printer. Other than
a network connection, this is the only method for connecting
the printer to a Macintosh.
The interface card also has a 9-pin serial port, but it is only for
connecting to computers running Windows 95 or 98.

Hardware Requirements

Since Macintosh computers send their print jobs in the
PostScript language, the printer must be upgraded to
interpret the PostScript language. This requires the PostScript
Level 2 Upgrade Kit (Order No. 1802) be installed in the
printer. For more information about this kit, see page 85.
Apple LocalTalk involves connecting the computer and
printer directly to each other using a LocalTalk cable. The
cable is supplied by Apple and your local computer retailer.

Software Requirements

The SuperScript 1800 printer can receive print jobs from
Macintosh computers running Mac OS 7.1 and higher.

Controller Board as described on page 83.
