PROG Commands

START PROG

Use the START PROG command to initiate the execution of a SCREEN COBOL
program on a device interoperating with your PATHMON environment. When this
command is executed, the PATHMON process performs the following:
1. Creates a temporary TERM object entry based on the configuration information in
the PROG object template. Assigns an object name beginning with a number to
distinguish it from configured TERM objects.
2. If necessary, starts the TCP that controls the device.
3. Starts the newly created temporary TERM object.
4. Passes control of the device to the TCP while the TCP executes the SCREEN
COBOL program.
5. After the screen program terminates and if no other programs are using the same
temporary TERM object, or when the TERM object is aborted, deletes the
temporary TERM object. If Step 2 was performed, stops the TCP if no other TERM
objects are using it.
This command is equivalent to the PATHCOM RUN PROGRAM command.
Continuation
You cannot use continuation with this command to start more than one PROG object;
you must start each PROG object separately.
