HEATERS]: Propane(L.P.)gasis heavierthan air.Shouldthere
be a leak in the system,the gas will settle near the ground.
Basements,crawl spaces, s kirted areas under mobile homes
(evenwhenventilated), c losets and areasbelowgroundlevel w ill
serve as pockets for the accumulation of this gas. Before
attemptingto lightor relight the water heater's pilot or turning
on a nearbyelectrical l ightswitch,be absolutely s urethere isno
accumulated gasinthe area. Search for odorof gasbysn_ng at
groundlevelin tee vicinityof the appliance. I f odor isdetected,
followstepsindicated at "For YourSafety"on the coverpageof
thismanualthen leave the premises.

pushit downto light the pilot, or to turn it to "ON", "OFF"
or "PILOT". Never usea tool suchas a lever,wrench or pli-
ers. Do not hit or damagethe knob. A damagedknob may
result in an explosion and seriousinjury.If you haveproblem
turningthe knob, callthe gassupplierimmediately.
