Connect to the Computer
The printer interface cable is not supplied.
PC Systems
A shielded IEEE-1284 parallel bidirectional
interface cable (such as Okidata 70000803) is
required; maximum length 6 ft. (1.8 m). The
printer's parallel port requires a Centronics
36-pin male connector.
1. Plug the interface cable into the parallel port on the
back of the printer and secure it with the wire loops.
2. Plug the other end into your computer and secure it in
place with the screws.
Macintosh® Systems
To connect to a Macintosh system, you will
need an optional Okidata 510e network card
(Okidata P/N 70032801) and a crossover UTP
cable with RJ45 connectors at either end.
Once the network card is installed in the printer (see the
directions supplied with the card):
1. Turn both the Macintosh and the printer off.
2. Attach one end of the crossover cable to the 10BaseT
(RJ45) port on the printer network card.
3. Attach the other end of the cable to the RJ45 port on
your Macintosh network card. If your Macintosh does
not have an RJ45 port, you will need a network
adapter to make the connection.
4. Turn the printer and the Macintosh on.
