Tapping and Typing

Like using a mouse to click elements on a computer
screen, using the stylus pen to tap elements on your
PDA phone screen is the basic action you use to get
things done on your PDA phone.
The first time you start your PDA phone, the setup
instructions appear on the screen. These instructions
include a calibration screen. Calibration aligns the
internal circuit of your PDA phone with its touch-
sensitive screen so that when you tap an element on the
screen, the PDA phone can detect exactly which task you
want to perform. For details about calibration, see page
209.
IMPORTANT!
Always use the point of the stylus pen for tapping or for making
strokes on the PDA phone screen. Never use an actual pen,
pencil, or other sharp object to write on the PDA phone screen
as this will scratch the screen.
You can tap the PDA phone screen to perform many
operations, such as the following:
• Open applications
• Select menu commands
• Select options in dialogue boxes
• Enter text on the onscreen keyboards
• Scroll on list screens
• Move the cursor in text input fields
Just as you can drag the mouse to select text or move
objects on your computer, you can drag the stylus pen to
select text. You can also use the stylus pen to drag the
slider of any scroll bar.
