Usng the SMART Dsk Feature
S.M.A.R.T. stands for Self‐Montorng, Analyss, and Reportng Technology. It s a dsk
drve feature that allows software to montor degradatons n dsk drve specficatons.
Usng ths technology, NVIDIA MedaSheld lets you montor the health of dsk drves
n a RAID array and alerts you when certan degradatons ndcate an mpendng hard-
ware falure, gvng you tme to back up data and replace the drve. When you clck on
an array dsk from the Vew Storage Configuraton page, the SMART status appears,
ndcatng whether (as of the last pollng) the dsk s healthy (good) or whether there s a
problem that can result n a catastrophc falure wthn 24 hours.
To configure SMART settngs:
1. Clck Configure SMART settngs to open the assocated page.Select the Enable
SMART montorng rado button.
2. If you want to track the test results, check the Record events n the system log
check box.
3. Clck the Pollng nterval lst arrow and then select one of the tme optons corre-
spondng to how often you want MedaSheld to run the SMART test.
4. Clck Apply when done.
