A credit card sized peripheral interface standard for portable devices. Types
of PC cards currently offered by major vendors include fax/modems, LAN,
storage cards, and wireless communications devices.
PCI Local Bus
The 32-bit industry-standard PCI bus is a highly integrated input/output
(I/O) interface that offers the highest performance local bus available for the
Pentium-based processor.
The PCI bus supports burst modes that send large chunks of data across the
bus, allowing fast display of high-resolution images. The high-bandwidth
PCI local bus eliminates data bottlenecks found in traditional systems,
maintains maximum performance at high clock speeds, and provides a clear
upgrade path to future technologies.

Picture elements. Tiny dots that make up a screen image.
plug-and-play
Hardware and software that combines to let you connect devices directly to a
system without running special configuration routines. The computer
hardware and operating system and the device hardware and software must
be plug-and-play compliant.
