Basic Operations
Note:
e When the Display [12] has been stored in the
source unit, AS (Auto Store), PS (Preset Scan),
SCN (Scan), RPT (Repeat) and RDM (Random
Scan) are disabled. Manually turn off these func-
tions before turning the Display (12| to the horizon-
tal position.
Turning on and off the monitor
Each time you press the MONI button [17], the
monitor is turned on and off.
* When a button other than the volume adjustment
button is pressed or during security monitoring,
the monitor-off mode is canceled.
Mute
Each time you press ENT of the o-selector [1],
mute is turned on and off.
"MUTE" is displayed when mute is turned on in
radio or TV mode, and "PAUSE" is displayed in
CD/MD changer mode.
Adjusting the tone
Notes:
e When
the DSP or equalizer unit (DPH9300,
DPH7300,
or EQH5100
sold separately) is
connected to the source unit, the tone is adjust-
ed by the DSP or equalizer unit and the tone
adjustment mode cannot be selected. For fur-
ther information, see the section "Operating
the DSP and Equalizer".
e If no operation is made for about 5 seconds
after each operation, the unit returns to the
previous mode
and the settings made
are
stored.
1) Press and hold the A-M button {i3] for about 1
second to go to the tone (TONE) adjustment
mode.

* BASS (bass) and TREB (treble) are displayed
in the information Panel {2].
2) Slide the a-selector [1] to <q (left), P (right),
A (up), or W (down) to adjust the tone.

: Bass is attenuated.
> (right)
: Bass is emphasized.
A (up) _ : Treble is emphasized.
VY (down) : Treble is attenuated.
3) Press the A-M button [13] to return to the pre-
vious mode.
Adjusting the balance
Note:
e If no operation is made for about 5 seconds after
each operation, the unit returns to the previous
mode and the settings made are stored.
1) Press and hold the A-M button [13] for about 1
second to go to the tone adjustment mode.
2) When
the tone adjustment
mode
is dis-
played, press ENT of the a-selector [1] to
switch to the balance adjustment mode.
* BALANCE (balance of right and left speakers)
and FADER (fader: balance of front and rear
speakers)
are displayed
in the Information
Panel [2].

3) Slide the a-selector [1] to <q (left), PB (right),
A (up), or W (down) to adjust the balance of
the speakers.

<q; Increases the volume of the left speaker.
> : increases the volume of the right speaker.
A. Increases the volume of the front speaker.
WV : Increases the volume of the rear speaker.
Loudness
Notes:
e When
the DSP
or equalizer unit (DPH7300
or
EQH5100
sold separately) is connected to the
source unit, the loudness effect cannot be selected.
e When the DSP unit DPH9300 sold separately is
connected to the source unit, loudness cannot be
adjusted. See the subsection
"Setting the auto
loudness effect" (page 36) to adjust loudness.
Press the LOUD button [14], the loudness effect
turns on and off.
*When
the loudness
effect is turned
on, "LD"
appears in the display.
