12. Operating Simcenter SCADAS RS

Remote ON/OFF switching

Instead of using the ON/OFF button (1), the REMOTE ON/OFF connector (2) of a UPS Unit can also be
used to switch the system ON or OFF. This is especially useful if the system needs to be switched on or
off manually or automatically from a remote location or a vehicle.
The REMOTE ON/OFF connector (2) allows the UPS Unit to be activated and deactivated by offering an
external voltage or by opening or closing a remote switch.
There are 2 ways to remotely switch UPS on/off using the 3-pin UPS remote on/off input:
• Using an external voltage source (6.5 V..60 V)
• Between pins On/Off (1) and GND (2)
• ON: If there is a voltage source
• OFF: Otherwise
