Ash Removal

Whenever ashes get 3 to 4 inches deep in your firebox or ash pan, and when the fire has burned
down and cooled, remove excess ashes. Leave an ash bed approximately 1 inch deep on the
ASHES
firebox bottom to help maintain a hot charcoal bed. Let the stove cool completely before
removing ashes (wait at least two hours after the last coal has been extinguished). Ashes should
be placed in a metal container with a tight-fitting lid. The closed container of ashes should be
placed on a noncombustible floor or on the ground, away from all combustible materials, pending
final disposal. The ashes should be retained in the closed container until all cinders have
thoroughly cooled.

Ash Pan Removal

Do not operate this stove with the ash pan open. A fire
hazard will result.
The ash pan must be properly inserted and fully closed during operation. Failure to fully close and
seal the ash pan may lead to an over-fired stove, negating the warranty and creating a safety hazard.
The ash pan may be removed only after the stove has fully cooled.
To remove the ash pan:
1. Twist the ash pan handle down and pull out the ash pan.
2. Lift out the ash pan by the edges and use the handle to transport the ash pan to the metal container.
