Starting the engine
• Make sure gear lever is in neutral.
• At temperatures above freezing point (1)
Depress accelerator pedal slowly while
operating the starter.
• At temperatures below freezing point (2)
Before operating starter, depress accelera-
tor pedal fully once and let it return
slowly — this actuates the automatic
choke.
Depress clutch pedal so that the starter
can turn the engine more easily, then start
the engine.
• When engine is very warm (3)
Depress accelerator pedal fully while
operating starter but do "pump" the pedal.
Note: As soon as engine starts, release the
ignition key so that starter is switched off.
Do not try to warm the engine up by letting it
idle - drive off straightaway but do not over-
rev the engine while it is still cold.
