The key is inserted into the lock and with-
drawn at position 1.
If the key is difficult to turn in the lock or
cannot be turned to position 2 at all, the
steering wheel should be turned to and fro
slightly to release the locking pin.

Steering lock / starter switch
Switching ignition on
Key positions:
1 - Ignition off, steering locked
2 - Ignition on, warning lamps light up
(see page 24)
3 - Starting (see page 23)
Steering lock
After withdrawing the key, rock the steering
wheel to and fro slightly until you hear the
locking pin engage — the steering lock is then
effective.
Caution:
Withdraw key only when vehicle is station-
ary as otherwise the lock will engage when
the steering wheel is turned.
