Problems Concerning the Internal Battery
[EFX]/[TAP]/[DELAY]/[CHORUS]/[REVERB]
Indicators Flash When Power Is Turned On

The internal battery used for saving the memories and
settings is nearly worn out. While the memories and
settings have not yet been lost at this point, the battery
will have to be replaced soon. Consult Roland Service or
your local instrument dealer.

Other Problems
VGA-5 Receives Commands from Foot
Controller or Other Device, But Memories Do
Not Switch

Is the external device transmitting over a MIDI
channel that cannot be received by the VGA-5?

Set the MIDI channel on the external device to Channel 1.
Otherwise, set MIDI (OMNI) in the VGA-5's MIDI
settings to ON (p. 26).
The volume level of the instrument connected
to EXT IN is too low.

Could you be using a connection cable that contains
a resistor?

Useaconnection cable that does not contain a resistor.
Pressing Effects Buttons Does Not Turn Effects
On/Off

Is the FUNCTION switch set to LATCH?

When the FUNCTION switch is set to LATCH and a foot
switch is connected, the effects can be turned on and off
only with the foot switch.
[TAP] Indicator Does Not Flash

Is the delay variation set to HOLD?
>
When "HOLD" is selected, the [TAP] indicator lights up
only during recording (p. 19).
Foot Switch Does Not Operate Correctly.

Is the FUNCTION switch setting the right one for the
connected foot switch?

When the FUNCTION switch is set to "MOMENTARY"
or "PROGRAM," use the BOSS FS-5U (optional).
When set to "LATCH," use the BOSS FS-5L (optional) (p.

[MANUAL] Indicator Flashes With MIDI Device

Could the external MIDI device have transmitted a
large volume of data all at once?

After the indicator flashes for a short while, the VGA-5
automatically returns to the condition it was in before
receiving the data.
Reduce the amount of data that will be transmitted by
the external device, then have it send the data again.
