1. INTRODUCTION

Thank you for choosing this bean to cup espresso and cappuccino
machine.
We hope you enjoy using your new appliance. Take a few min-
utes to read this Instruction for Use. This will avoid all risks and
damage to the appliance.

1.1 Letters in brackets

The letters in brackets refer to the legend in the description of
the appliance on page 2-3.

1.2 Troubleshooting and repairs

In the event of problems, first try and resolve them following the
information given in the sections "17. EXPLANATION OF LIGHTS"
and "18. TROUBLESHOOTING".
If this does not resolve the problem or you require further in-
formation, you should consult Customer Services by calling the
number given on the annexed "Customer Service" sheet.
If your country is not among those listed on the sheet, call the
number given in the guarantee. If repairs are required, contact
De'Longhi Customer Services only. The addresses are given in the
guarantee certificate provided with the machine.

The lights on the buttons come on steadily or flash as appropriate.
The meanings are indicated in brackets in the description.

button: to turn the appliance on and off (light flash-
ing - the appliance is heating up; light on - the appliance is
ready for use)

button: to rinse or descale the appliance (white
light on - the appliance is rinsing; red and white lights flash-
ing alternately - the appliance needs descaling)

button: to deliver steam to make cappuccino and
milk based coffees (light on - the "steam" function has been
selected; light flashing - you must turn the steam dial; light
fading - the appliance is heating up)

button: to make 1 cup of short espresso coffee (light
on - this setting has been selected)

button: to make 2 cups of short espresso coffee
(light on - this setting has been selected)

button: to make 1 cup of long espresso coffee (light
on - this setting has been selected)

2.4 Description of lights

An alarm is displayed on the control panel (see
section "17. EXPLANATION OF LIGHTS").
Light on: the grounds container is missing and
must be inserted;
Light flashing: the grounds container is full and
must be emptied.
Light on: the water tank is missing;
Light flashing: there is not enough water in the
tank.
ECO
"Energy Saving" mode is active.

3. SETTING UP THE APPLIANCE

Please note :
Coffee has been used to factory test the appliance and it is
therefore completely normal for there to be traces of coffee
in the mill. The machine is, however, guaranteed to be new.
