Spectrum Analyzer Display
(for details, see the "Display" section)

When Graphic
Equalizer 1 or 2 is set to "PASS", the displays for
both equalizers show the spectrum analyzer display for the fre-
quency curve adjusted with the graphic equalizer set to "LINE" (or
"EQ REC").

When both Graphic Equalizer 1 and 2 are set to "PASS", the dis-
plays for both equalizers show the spectrum analyzer display for
the regular (non-adjusted) frequency curve.
Adjusting the Equalizer Pattern
SOUND:
Simply press one of the POPS, VOCAL, FUSION, DISCO. or
ROCK buttons to play back or record with one of the facto-
ry-set equalizer patterns.
PRESET:
Press one of buttons A through E to play back or record with
one of the equalizer patterns you have preset.
Use the
graphic
equalizer controi
buttons
to adjust the
equalizer pattern manually.
Manual:
MODE Button
The mode switches
between Manual, PRESET and SOUND each time
this button is pressed.

The mode
is automatically set to Manual
if one of the graphic
equalizer control buttons is pressed.
@
The mode
is automatically set to PRESET
if one of buttons A
through E is pressed while in the Manual mode.
SOUND mode:
Press the MODE
button so that the SOUND
indicator appears on the
display. Then press one of the POPS, VOCAL, FUSION, DISCO or ROCK
buttons.
PRESET mode:
Press the MODE
button so that the PRESET indicator appears on the
display. Then press one of buttons A to E. (Equalizer patterns must first
be preset on these buttons. See the following section "Presetting Pat-
terns on Button A through E".)
Manual mode:
Press one of the graphic equalizer control buttons. Then adjust the
equalizer pattern.

The graphic equalizer display switches back to the spectrum ana-
lyzer display after approximately 5 seconds, unless nothing is be-
ing played.

Use the DISPLAY button to switch between the graphic equalizer
and spectrum analyzer displays.
Presetting Patterns on Buttons A Through E
The following description is for Graphic Equalizer 1. Operation is iden-
tical on Graphic Equalizer 2.

Use the graphic equalizer control buttons to.set the desired pat-
tern.
Press the MEMORY button.
The "MEMORY"
indicator appears for about 5 seconds.
Press button A while the "MEMORY"
indicator is displayed.

The "MEMORY"
indicator turns off and the "PRESET" indicator
appears.
Press the MEMORY
buiton again if the "MEMORY"
indicator
turns off before you press buiton A.

Repeat steps 1 to 3 to set patterns on buttons B through E.

Patterns can be stored in the memory during both the play and
stop modes.

Previous patterns are cleared when new patterns are stored at the
same button.
Graphic Equalizer Controi Buttons
64Hz:
Affects low bass sounds (bass guitar, drums, etc.). Press the
UP button for a more stable, heavier sound.
160HZ:
Press the UP button to eliminate muffled sound due to noise
in the listening room.
400Hz:
Frequencies around 400Hz are the basic frequencies in music
and for the human
voice. Press the UP button to emphasize
vocals and give the sound more: punch.
4kHz:
This band affects medium frequencies above 400Hz. Press
the UP button to enhance
the.sound
of pianos,
instruments,
and higher vocals, making them seem closer to the listener.
2.5kHz:
Press the UP button for a livelier sound. Press. the DOWN
button to make the sound softer.
6.3kHz:
The human ear is very sensitive to this range. Press the UP
button to enhance strings, etc., or the DOWN
button for a less
tinny sound.
16kHz:
This band. affects the overall. mood,
and also emphasizes
such instruments as cymbals and triangles clearer. Press the
DOWN button to reduce hiss noise on tapes.
REVERSE
Button
Press the REVERSE button to reverse the pattern. Press again to return
to the previous pattern. (The "SOUND" and "PRESET" indicators do not
reappear.)

ifthe REVERSE button is pressed while the spectrum analyzer is
displayed, the display switches momentarily to the graphic equal-
izer display, then returns to the spectrum analyzer display.
FLAT Button
Press the FLAT button to make the fequaney curve flat. To return to the
previous setting, operate as explained under "MODE Button".

Ifthe FLAT button is pressed while the spectrum analyzer is. dis-
played, the display switches momentarily to the graphic equalizer
display, then returns to the spectrum analyzer display.
Display
Separate spectrum analyzers for the left and right channels can be
displayed by pressing one of the ANALYZER buttons to turn on the L/R
indicator.

The ANALYZER
1 L/R indicator'and ANALYZER
2 L/R indicator
cannot be turned on at the same time.

The pattern cannot be adjusted separately for the left and right
channels.

frequency curve adjusted with the graphic equalizer set to "LINE"

When both Graphic Equalizer 1 and 2 are set to "PASS", the dis-
plays show the independent left and right channel spectrum ana-
lyzers for the regular (non-adjusted) frequency curve.
