Maintenance
Normal maintenance schedule
The following maintenance services must be performed to ensure good emission control and performance. Keep
receipts for all vehicle emission services to protect your warranty. Where both mileage and time are shown, the fre-
quency of service is determined by whichever occurs first.

僅 As it is normal for engine oil to be consumed during driving, the engine oil
level should be checked on regular basis.
僅 The engine oil change interval for normal operating conditions is based on
the use of the recommended engine specification. If the recommended
engine oil specification is not used, then replace the engine oil according to
the maintenance schedule under severe operating conditions.
僅 The engine oil level should be checked regularly and maintained properly.
Operating with an insufficient amount oil can damage the engine, and such
damage is not covered by warranty.
僅 This maintenance schedule depends on fuel quality. It is applicable only
when using a qualified fuel <"EN590 or equivalent">. If the diesel fuel specifi-
cations don't meet the EN590, it must be replaced according to the severe
maintenance schedule.
When adding coolant, use only deionized water or soft water for your vehicle
and never mix hard water in the coolant filled at the factory. An improper cool-
ant mixture can result in serious malfunction or engine damage.
僅 Adjust alternator, water pump and air conditioner drive belt. Inspect and if
necessary repair or replace.
僅 Inspect drive belt tensioner, idler and alternator pulley and if necessary cor-
rect or replace.
For your convenience, it can be replaced prior to it's interval when you do main-
tenance of other items.
Transfer case oil should be changed anytime it has been submerged in water.
Kia recommends that you use unleaded petrol which has an octane rating of
RON (Research Octane Number) 95 / AKI (Anti Knock Index) 91 or higher (for
Europe) or Octane Rating of RON (Research Octane Number) 91 / AKI (Anti-
Knock Index) 87 or higher (except Europe).
For customers who do not use good quality petrols including fuel additives regu-
larly, and have problems starting or the engine does not run smoothly, one bot-
tle of additives should be added to the fuel tank when the engine oil is replaced.
Additives are available from a professional workshop along with information on
how to use them. Kia recommends to visit an authorised Kia dealer/service part-
ner. Do not mix other additives.
This maintenance schedule depends on fuel quality. It is applicable only when
using a qualified fuel <"EN590 or equivalent">.If the diesel fuel specifications
don't meet the EN590, it must be replaced more frequently. If there are some
important safety matters like fuel flow restriction, surging, loss of power, hard
starting problem etc., replace the fuel filter immediately regardless of mainte-
nance schedule and consult a professional workshop for more details. Kia rec-
ommends to consult an authorised Kia dealer/service partner.
