Important:
Refer to your engine owner's manual for additional maintenance procedures.
CAUTION
If you leave the key in the switch, someone could accidently start the engine and seriously
injure you or other bystanders.
Shut off the engine and remove the key from the switch before you perform any maintenance.
Maintenance Procedure
• For Toro engines—change the engine oil and oil filter (more often in dirty or dusty
conditions).
• For Toro engines—check the spark plug(s).
• For Briggs and Stratton engines—Change the engine oil and filter.
• For Briggs and Stratton engines—Replace the spark plug.
• For Kawasaki engines—change the engine-oil filter (more often in dirty or dusty
conditions).
• For Toro engines—replace the spark plug(s).
• For Kawasaki engines—replace the primary air filter (more often in dirty or dusty
conditions).
• For Kawasaki engines—check the safety air filter (more often in dirty or dusty
conditions).
• For Toro engines—replace the air filter (more often in dirty or dusty conditions).
• For Briggs and Stratton engines—Check and adjust the valve clearance. Contact
an Authorized Service Dealer.
• For Briggs and Stratton engines—Check the air cleaner (more often in dirty or
dusty conditions).
• For Kawasaki engines—Check and adjust the valve clearance. See an Authorized
Service Dealer.
• For Toro engines—Check and adjust the valve clearance. See an Authorized
Service Dealer.
• Grease the caster pivots (more often in dirty or dusty conditions).
• For Briggs and Stratton engines—Replace the primary air filter.
• Check and clean the engine cooling fins and shrouds (more often in dirty or dusty
conditions).
• After the initial change—change the hydraulic-system filters and fluid when using
Toro® HYPR-OIL™ 500 fluid. (Change it more often under dirty or dusty conditions)
• For Kawasaki engines—replace the safety air filter (more often in dirty or dusty
conditions).
• Replace the emissions-air intake filter.
• Replace the fuel filter (more often in dusty, dirty conditions).
• For Briggs and Stratton engines—Replace the inner air filter.
• Check the battery charge.
• Repack the caster-wheel bearings (more often in dirty or dusty conditions).
• Greasing the caster-wheel hubs.
• Paint chipped surfaces.
• Complete all the procedures in the Storage chapter.
