Checking the Wheel Lug Nuts

Check and torque the wheel lug nuts to 122-129 N-m (90-95
ft-lb).
Checking the Wheel Hub
Slotted Nut
Service Interval: After the first 100 hours
Every 500 hours
See Figure 63 to determine which slotted nut has been
installed on the unit.
1. Style A (black finish)
2. 0.76 mm (0.03 inch)
Style A (black finish):
Torque the slotted nut to 286-352 N-m (211-260 ft-lb).
Note: Do not use anti-seize on wheel hub.
Style B (yellow zinc):
1. Remove and discard the cotter pin.
2. Torque the slotted nut to 271 N-m (200 ft-lb).
3. Check distance from bottom of slot in nut to inside
edge of hole. Two threads (0.1 inch) or less should
be showing.
1. 0.1 inch max
4. If more than two threads (0.1 inch) are showing
remove nut and install washer between hub and
nut.

5. Torque the slotted nut to 271 N-m (200 ft-lb).
6. Then tighten nut until the next set of slots line up
with the cross hole in shaft. Do not loosen nut to
align the slot. If required, tighten to the next set
of slots.
7. Install a new cotter pin.
Note: Do Not use anti-seize on wheel hub.
Adjusting the Caster Pivot
Bearing
Service Interval: Every 500 hours/Yearly (whichever comes
first)
1. Disengage the blade control switch (PTO), move the
motion control levers to the neutral locked position
and set the parking brake.
2. Stop the engine, remove the key, and wait for all moving
parts to stop before leaving the operating position.
3. Remove the dust cap from caster and tighten lock nut
(Figure 65).
4. Tighten the locknut until the spring washers are flat and
then back off a 1/4 turn to properly set the pre-load on
the bearings (Figure 65).
Important: Make sure the spring washers are
installed correctly as shown in Figure 65.
5. Install the dust cap (Figure 65).
