UL/ULC Installation Requirements
NOTE: For equipment used at the protected premisesand intended to facilitate IPcommunications(hubs, routers, NIDs, DigitalSubscriber Line (DSL), cable
modems), 24 hour backup power isrequired. Where such cannot be facilitated, a secondary(back-up) communication channelisrequired.
Domain Name Service (DNS) programming is not permitted in UL1610 listed systems.
Technical Specifications
The input voltage to the Communicator can be drawn fromthe UnderwritersLaboratories/UnderwritersLaboratoriesCanada (UL/ULC) listed controlpanel.
Notes for using Private, Corporate, and High Speed Data Networks:
Networkaccessand domain access policiesshall be set to restrict unauthorized network access, and spoofing or Denialof Service (DoS) attacks. Select an
Internet Service Provider (ISP) that has redundant servers/systems, back-up power, routers with firewalls enabled, and methods to identify and protect
against DoSattacks(e.g., via spoofing).
Notes for using Public Switched and Cellular Data Networks:
Communication channels shall be facilitated such that the communicator willrestrict unauthorized access, which could otherwise compromise security. The
communicator shallbe located in a secured area.
•For ULC Residential Fire and Burglary applicationsthe TL2803G(R)E/3G2080(R)E/TL280(R)E/LE2080(R) /TL280LE(R) can be used asprimary com-
munication channel via either cellular or Ethernet or as a back-up in conjunction with the Digital AlarmCommunicator Transmitter (DACT). Test transmission
every24 hoursshallbe enabled on each channel.
•For ULC Commercial Fire and Burglary applicationsthe TL2803G(R)E/3G2080(R) E/TL280(R)E/LE2080(R) /TL280LE(R) can be used asa passive
communication module with the following securitylevels:
P1 (each channelcellular or Ethernet isindependent)
l
P2 (cellular and Ethernet in back-up configuration, panelsection [851][005] toggle option [5] OFF).
l
P3 (cellular and Ethernet in redundant configuration, panelsection [851][005] toggle option [5] ON).
l
The communicator can also be used as an active communication systemwith the security levels A1-A4 (each channelcellular or Ethernet independent or
together in a back-up/redundant configuration). For active line security systemsAES128 bit encryption shallbe enabled (at the monitoring station receiver)
and the supervision heartbeat rate shallbe set as90 seconds(panel section [851][004] = 005A/90). The supervision window at the SignalReceiver Center
(SRC)'sreceiver shallbe programmed asmaximumof 180 (00B4/180) seconds.
NOTE: For ULC commercialfire passive communication, encryption shallbe enabled,
•For UL Residential Fire and Burglary applications the TL2803G(R)E/3G2080R/TL280(R)E/LE2080(R) /TL280LE(R) can be used asthe primary com-
munication channelvia either cellular or Ethernet, or asa back-up in conjunction with the DACT (30 daytest transmission isrequired on each channel).
