3. Remove the shoulder bolt and nut.
4. Remove the shoulder bolt and nut.
8. Raise the deck struts and secure them in the
up position.
9. Slide the deck out to the right side of the
machine.
Replacing the Grass
Deflector
WARNING
An uncovered discharge opening could allow
the lawn mower to throw objects at you or
bystanders, resulting in serious injury. Also,
contact with the blade could occur.
Do not operate the lawn mower unless you
install a cover plate, a mulch plate, grass
deflector or bagger.
1. Remove the locknut, the bolt, the spring, and the
spacer holding the deflector to the pivot brackets
(Figure 103).
2. Remove the damaged or worn grass deflector
(Figure 103).

3. Place the spacer and the spring onto grass
deflector.
4. Place the J-end of the spring behind the deck
edge.
Note:
Make sure that the J-end of the spring is
installed behind the deck edge before installing
the bolt as shown in
5. Install the bolt and the nut.
6. Place the J-hook end of the spring around the
grass deflector
Important:
to rotate. Lift the deflector up to the full open
position and ensure that it rotates into the
full down position.
