Checking the Spark
Arrester
For a Model with a Spark Arrester
Service Interval: Every 50 hours
WARNING
Hot exhaust system components may ignite
fuel vapors even you shut off the engine. Hot
particles exhausted during engine operation
may ignite flammable materials. Fire may
result in personal injury or property damage.
Do not refuel or run the engine unless a spark
arrester is installed.
1.
Shut off the engine, engage parking brake,
remove the key from the ignition, and wait for
all moving parts to stop before leaving the
operating position.
2.
Wait for muffler to cool.
3.
If there are any breaks in the screen or welds,
replace the arrester.
4.
If the screen is plugged, remove the arrester
and shake the loose particles out of the arrester
and clean the screen with a wire brush (soak it
in solvent if necessary). Install the arrester on
the exhaust outlet.
