10.1 Overview

This section provides information about preventive maintenance and replacing damaged parts.
The topics covered in this section are:
Preventive maintenance of Meter Body Barrier Diaphragms and process piping to
Transmitter.
Replacement of damaged parts such as Transmitter Printed Wiring Assembly (PWA) and
Meter Body.

10.2 Preventive Maintenance Practices and Schedules

SMV800 Transmitter does not require specific maintenance on regular basis. However, the
following are recommended for optimal performance and based on process characteristics.
Check piping for leaks.
Clear piping of sediment or other foreign matter.
Clean Transmitter Process Heads and inspect Meter Body Barrier Diaphragms.

10.3 Inspecting Barrier Diaphragms

Depending on the characteristics of the process medium, sediment or other foreign particles may
be collected in the process head cavity/chamber and cause faulty measurement. In addition,
Barrier Diaphragms in Meter Body may be coated with residue from the process medium.
The following procedure comprises the general steps for cleaning Process Heads and inspecting
Barrier Diaphragms.
It is recommended removing Transmitter from service and move it to a clean area
before disassembling.
