VOR Test Setup
1. Simulate a VOR signal using the ramp test equipment.
2. Tune the NAV receiver to the simulated VOR frequency.
3. Set the CDI to VLOC.
4. Rotate the heading bug on the HSI to the current rotorcraft heading.
VOR NAV Mode
5. Rotate the course pointer bug on the CDI to the simulated VOR bearing.
6. Verify full scale deflection of the CDI by varying the selected course or the simulated VOR
bearing at least 15° left and right.
7. Set the course pointer at least 15° from the simulated VOR bearing (left or right).
8. Press and release the FCS DISC switch to ensure that no flight director is active.
9. Press the HDG key to couple the flight director.
10. Press the NAV key.
11. Verify the following annunciations and displays:
The green LEDs illuminate next to the FCS key on the GMC 605H
"HDG" is displayed above "VOR" on the GMC 605H
"HDG", "P", "R", and "CPLD" are displayed in green text and "VOR" displayed in white text
on the PFD
12. Verify the cyclic is stationary.
13. Slowly rotate the course pointer on the CDI toward the simulated VOR bearing, until the course
pointer is within approximately 5° of the rotorcraft heading.
14. Verify the following annunciations and displays are present:
A flashing "VOR" is displayed in place of HDG on the GMC 605H for approximately
3 seconds then stops flashing
A flashing "VOR" in green text is displayed in place of HDG on the PFD for approximately
3 seconds then stops flashing
15. Alter the course on the CDI by at least 10° to the left of the simulated VOR bearing.
16. Verify that the cyclic moves to the right.
17. Alter the course on the CDI by at least 10° to the right of the simulated VOR bearing.
18. Verify that the cyclic moves to the left.
19. Restore the course pointer bug on the CDI to the simulated VOR bearing.
20. De-select the lateral mode by pressing the NAV key. "ATT" should be annunciated in the Roll field
on the GMC and PFD.
21. Center the cyclic. If necessary, press FTR to reset the ATT reference to keep the cyclic centered.
VOR APR Mode (VAPP)
22. Press the APR key.
23. Verify the following annunciations and displays:
"VAPP" is displayed on the GMC 605H
"VAPP", "P", "R", and "CPLD" are displayed in green text
CDI is centered
24. Confirm the cyclic is stationary.
25. Press the HDG key on the GMC to return the active roll mode to HDG.
