Adjust Parking Brake
See Figure 22.
1. Disengage parking brake.
2. Loosen jam nut on parking brake cable
adjuster and pull down on adjuster barrel
until cable is taut, not tight.
3. Thread bottom nut until it contacts
bracket.
4. Tighten the top jam nut.

5. Engage parking brake and check
adjustment. Repeat as needed.
6. Set both bypass levers to drive position
after brake adjustment.

PTO BELT

WARNING: Moving parts can cut
or amputate body parts. ALWAYS
wait for moving parts to stop before
performing maintenance or
service.
CAUTION: Damaged or worn belts
may result in injury and/or damage
to unit. Check belts for excessive
wear or cracks often.
PTO Belt Access
1. Properly stop, park, and turn off unit (see
Operation on page 12).
2. Wait for unit to cool before accessing
belts.
3. Open the front belt access panel. See
Figure 23.

4. Lower the mower deck.
5. Remove belt covers.
Replacing Mower Belts
See Figure 24.
1. Turn the deck belt idler spring adjusting
nut to relieve tension from the idler
spring.
2. Remove deck belt from deck sheaves.
3. Install new deck belt.
4. Tighten the adjusting nut to extend the
belt. Tighten until the idler spring extends
to 35.6 cm (14") (measured from outside
hook to outside hook) for 48" and
52" decks and to 37.5 cm (14.75") for
60" decks.
NOTICE: The drive design holds constant
tension as the belt wears, so future
adjustment is not necessary.
5. Verify that there are no twists in belts and
that they are routed correctly.

releasing idler spring tension. Keep
