ADJUST PARKING BRAKE

IMPORTANT: Adjust parking brake on both
sides of unit.
1. Check parking brake. See Check Parking
Brake on page 23.
2. Check parking brake cable and adjust if
necessary. See Adjust Parking Brake
Cable on page 27.
3. Release parking brake.
See Figure 37.
4. Loosen jam nut against steering linkage
secured to transaxle of side being
adjusted.
5. Turn tie rod clockwise and tighten jam
nuts against steering linkages.

6. Recheck brake function.
• If both sides of unit remain in place
when pushed, no further adjustment is
needed.
• If either side of unit moves easily when
pushed, readjust as necessary.
7. Return transaxle bypass levers to
operating position.

REPLACE PTO BELT

CAUTION: Damaged or worn
belts may result in injury and / or
damage to the unit. Check belts
for excessive wear or cracks
often.
Remove PTO Belt
See Figure 38.
1. Place unit in service position. See
Service Position on page 18.
2. Position mower deck at lowest cutting
height. See Set Cutting Height on
page 15.
3. Loosen wing knobs retaining belt covers
and remove belt covers.
4. Remove wing knobs retaining access
cover and remove cover.

CAUTION: Use care when
releasing idler spring tension.
Keep body parts away from
idlers when performing this
operation.
See Figure 39 and Figure 40.
5. Slowly remove spring hook from anchor
bolt to release belt idler tension.
6. Remove hardware retaining support
bracket to idler and remove bracket.
