The Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) companding law is the method used to
convert analog signals to digital signals and vice versa. Succession 1000M,
Succession 1000, and Meridian 1 can accommodate a number of different
PCM companding laws:
µ-Law
A-Law inverted (Sweden only)
A-Law even bit interleaved
The response to the PCML prompt in LD 14 defines the PCM companding
law used by the Digital Trunk Interface (DTI) or Primary Rate Interface (PRI)
channel.
