5. Clean the retaining nut, tip guard, air cap and fluid
tip with a soft brush daily, minimum. See Fig. 20 .
Clean the parts with a soft brush and replace them
if they are damaged. Be careful not to bend, dam-
age, or disengage the electrode wire.

CAUTION
Do not use metal tools to clean the air cap holes as
this may scratch them, and make sure the electrode
wire is not damaged. Scratches in the air cap or tip
or a damaged electrode wire can distort the spray
pattern.
6. Wipe off the parts with a dry cloth. Be careful not
to bend the electrode wire.
Maintenance
7. Check the electrode wire. Replace it if it is bent or
damaged. See page 32.
To reduce the risk of electrostatic shock or explo-
sion, never operate the spray gun with a bent,
damaged or missing electrode.
8. Place the spray tip (13) in the air cap (15). Align
the tab of the tip with the groove in the air cap.
See Fig. 21 . Be careful not to bend the electrode
wire (15a).

9. Install the spray tip (13) and air cap (15), tip guard
(12), shroud (2), and retaining nut (1). Tighten the
retaining nut firmly. See Fig. 22 .
10. Test gun resistance as instructed on page 26.
