Reusing used fiber-optic cables
NOTE
Shorten both fiber-optic cores by the damaged lengths and reassemble the connectors. This
will prevent any attenuation losses due to the heavily stressed portions of the fiber-optic
cores.
Fiber type and shape of the fiber end
NOTE
When setting up an optical connection, note the following:
• Use the single-mode fiber type
• Use appropriate shape of the fiber end:
– PC (Physical Contact): Flat, rounded, polished fiber end
– UPC (Ultra Physical Contact): Flat, rounded, highly polished fiber end
