– Screw in the ATF filler plug again and tighten by hand.
– Shift selector lever into position "P".
– Start the engine.
– With the brake pedal actuated shift through all selector lever
positions "P, R, N, D, S" at idle speed, leaving the lever in
each position for approx. 10 seconds.
– Shift selector lever into position "P".
– Then, check the ATF level.
– Install air filter ⇒ Rep. gr. 24; Air filter; Removing and instal‐
ling air filter housing.
Specified torques
Tightening torque
Filler screw
• Replace gasket ring
Overflow pipe
• Replace gasket ring
Drain plug
• Replace gasket ring

Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Adapter for oil filling -VAS 6262A- with adapter -VAS 6262/1-
♦ Old oil collecting and suction equipment, e.g. -VAS 6622-
♦ Protective goggles
♦ Acid-resistant gloves
Test conditions
• Note the general repair instructions ⇒ Rep. gr. 00; Repair
instructions; General repair instructions.
• Observe rules for cleanliness ⇒ Rep. gr. 00; Repair instruc‐
tions; Cleanliness rules.
• Vehicle on completely level ground.
• Noise insulation removed ⇒ General body repairs, exterior;
Rep. gr. 66; Noise insulation; Summary of components -
noise insulation.
• Engine switched off.
• Selector lever in "P".
• Parking brake button actuated to activate the electrome‐
chanical parking brake.
