4.4.1 Checking the gear oil level
Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Adapter for oil filling -VAS 6262- or -VAS 6262A-
♦ Adapter for oil filling -VAS 6262/6-
♦ Catch pan
♦ Protective goggles
♦ Protective gloves
Shorten the pipe of the adapter for oil filling -VAS 6262A-
• The pipe of the adapter for oil filling -VAS 6262A- must be
shortened to prevent it colliding with the bottom of some oil
bottles.
Dimension -a- is measured from the shaft (green area in the
illustration) of the adapter for oil filling -VAS 6262A-.
Dimension -a- = 210 mm.
– Shorten the tube of the adapter to dimension -a-.
The gear oil level changes with the gearbox oil temperature.
The gearbox is not filled correctly if the gearbox oil temperature
is too low or too high.
The gearbox function is impaired if the gear oil level is too high
or too low.
Test conditions
