CHECKING THE NEW RECHARGEABLE LITHIUM ION
BATTERY FOR BEFORE USE AND NOTES ON HAN-
DLING
• Checking before use
When replacing the rechargeable lithium ion battery to the new
parts, be sure to check the exterior condition before installing the
new rechargeable lithium ion battery in this unit.
• No external wound such as scratches
• No swell
etc.
If there are some abnormality with the exterior, do not use that
rechargeable lithium ion battery.
• Notes on handling
When handling the new rechargeable lithium ion battery, handle
with notes of the following.
• Do not drop it
If it drops accidentally, do not use that rechargeable lithium ion
battery.
• Do not scratch with tweezers or other sharp objects
If it scratches accidentally, do not use that rechargeable lithium
ion battery.
ABOUT THE FRONT SURFACE GLASS
Matte glass is used on the front surface glass of the main unit.
Matte glass has an uneven surface. Due to this characteristic, it
may be diffi cult to remove scratches or dirt.
Make sure not to touch the surface with the following objects to the
front surface glass of the main unit.
• Metal products that are made of aluminum or magnesium
(headphones, cameras, keyrings, coins, etc.)
• Packaging materials that contain aluminum foil (packaging for
gum, chocolate, tablets, etc.)

METHOD OF DISTINGUISHING THE WALKMAN MAIN
UNIT
When distinguish the destination of the WALKMAN main unit,
check by following method.
• Method of identify using a dedicated tool
Note 1: Check before you replace the MAIN board of the WALK-
MAN main unit, to perform this method.
If the WALKMAN main unit is running normally, please dis-
tinguish by using the model information check tool, connecting
WALKMAN to PC (personal computer) by USB cable (WM-
PORT).
Refer to "1. Advance preparation" on page 5 and "2-3. Model in-
formation check" on page 8 for how to operate the model informa-
tion check tool.
• Method of distinguishing in the printed of the WALK-
MAN main unit
It can distinguishing by check in the sticking SS label on the back
side of the WALKMAN main unit. Refer to the following table.
Note 2: US and CND do not have a label.
