Emergency spare wheel

Notes on the emergency spare wheel
& WARNING Risk of accident caused by
incorrect wheel and tyre dimensions
The wheel or tyre size and the tyre type of the
emergency spare wheel or spare wheel and
the wheel to be replaced may differ. The emer-
gency spare wheel or spare wheel can signifi-
cantly impair driving characteristics of the
vehicle.
To prevent hazardous situations:
Drive carefully.

Never fit more than one emergency
#
spare wheel or spare wheel that differs
in size.
Only use an emergency spare wheel or
#
spare wheel briefly.

Do not deactivate ESP
.

Have the emergency spare wheel or
#
spare wheel of a different size replaced
at the nearest qualified specialist work-
shop. The new wheel must have the cor-
rect dimensions.

The deflated emergency spare wheel is
secured in the emergency spare wheel bag in
the load compartment and is secured to the
adjustable load compartment floor in the
lower position.
Observe the following notes on removing an emer-
gency spare wheel:
Before stowing the emergency spare wheel,

make sure there is no air left in the tyre.
If necessary, allow the air to escape.
To release air from the tyre: remove the valve
R
cap of the tyre.
Press down the metal insert in the valve using
R
a pointed object, e.g. a pen.
Screw the valve cap onto the valve.

Vehicles with adjustable load compartment
floor: always stow the deflated emergency
spare wheel in the lower position on the
adjustable load compartment floor.

Observe the following notes on fitting an emer-
gency spare wheel:
The maximum permissible speed with an
R
emergency spare wheel fitted is 80 km/h.
Do not fit the emergency spare wheel with
R
snow chains.
Replace the emergency spare wheel after six
R
years at the latest, regardless of wear.
Use the wheel bolts that are included with the
R
emergency spare wheel.
Check the tyre pressure of the emergency
R
spare wheel fitted. Correct the pressure as
necessary.

The specified tyre pressure is stated on the
label of the emergency spare wheel.

Vehicles with a tyre pressure loss warning
system: if an emergency spare wheel is fitted,
the tyre pressure loss warning system cannot
function reliably. Only restart the system
again when the emergency spare wheel has
been replaced with a new wheel.
